Dan Dukes builds a green home in Loudoun with his construction team.

GreenSource Builders was created in 2005 as a company exclusively dedicated to building homes to the highest sustainable standards.

We are a 100% EnergyStar partner and all of our homes are certified EnergyStar label homes. As a member of the U.S. Green Bulding Council and the Virginia Sustainable Building Network, we can build homes to LEED for Homes or EarthCraft House rating criteria. As the programs are complimentary, we often participate in both for a single project.

Dan Dukes, owner of GreenSource Builders, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master's degree from Virginia Tech in Construction Management.  He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the James River Green Building Council.

Prior to launching GreenSource Builders, he was involved with various military housing privatization projects in Northern Virginia employing such standards as the Whole Building Design Guide and the Sustainable Project Rating Tool (SPiRiT).  GreenSource Builders participates in the LEED for Homes Pilot and Virginia EarthCraft House, and currently has the only two co-branded projects in Northern Virginia.

Dan can trace his love of homebuilding to when he helped his father, an engineer, build his retirement home in rural Georgia.  Neighbors and passers-by referred to the home as the "Spaceship" due to its unique design, which incorparated various concepts from Mother Earth News and other grassroot sources.  Green building has come a long way in 25 years!
